VOCAL Data/Fax Modem Software Available on Analog Devices? 2100 DSP Core

Comprehensive software library for low-cost telephony and multimedia targets rapid system development on the ADSP-2100 Family Architecture

Buffalo, NY July 29, 1996 ... VOCAL Technologies Ltd., a leading supplier of DSP-based communication technologies, announced today that its comprehensive library of data/fax/voice functions, including V.34 Annex 12 (33,600 bps), DSVD and full-duplex speakerphone, are now available for the Analog Devices ADSP-2100 DSP core. OEMs can license the core from Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) or Mentor Graphics. This software library will allow OEMs embedding the DSP core to produce low-cost communication and multimedia products with a quick time to market.

According to Sandra Perry, marketing manager for the DSP cores at ADI, "We are pleased to have VOCAL Technologies as a third party software developer for our DSP core. VOCAL?s well-tested, modular software should enable our licensees to bring their telephony products quickly to market."

The software available from VOCAL Technologies is a comprehensive library of data, facsimile, and voice functions which implements all of the features listed in the chart below. The modularity of the library code allows the ADSP-2100 core licensees the flexibility to choose the functions needed for their specific application.

According to John Moore, one of VOCAL Technologies' lead software architects, "The combination of Analog Devices? 16-bit fixed-point DSP architecture with VOCAL's comprehensive modem library will be ideal for core licensees designing modems, advanced fax machines, speakerphones, and video conferencing systems."

The Analog Devices ADSP-2100 family DSP core is code compatible with ADI?s standard, general-purpose products, including the ADSP-2171 and ADSP-2181 fixed point DSPs and is well suited to communication and multimedia systems.
